| Due to the off-shoring of Western jobs and universities via globalization, there is unprecedented demand in less industrialized countries for engineers with advanced degrees, and for Western science and engineering education and training programs.  The workshop will concentrate on the challenges and ethical questions that arise in developing international standards for engineering ethics and in teaching engineering ethics materials that have been developed primarily for U.S. universities and U.S. students in an increasingly international educational context.   Specific themes that will be discussed during the workshop include the prospects for

		      international standards for engineering practice;
		      international standards for professionalism and registration;
		      an international code of ethics; and
		      an international engineering ethics curriculum. The goal of these sessions is to make progress towards understanding the potential for establishing an international ethics curriculum as well as international licensing and code requirements. |
